What is in a sulfate-free shampoo and what are the benefits?
Traditional shampoos, most of which are sulfate-based, are generally very effective at transforming oily residue, debris and dirt so that they can be rinsed away to wash the hair. They produce a generous lather that makes washing easier. Unfortunately, they are usually so strong that they also remove the natural sebum that hair needs. The result? Dry, brittle, dull hair. To offset this effect, manufacturers add silicone to give hair a shiny look. Synthetic silicone settles on the hair and since it is not absorbed, it tends to “suffocate” the hair. To combat the disadvantages of shampooing, a lot of conditioners are used.
Yet the purpose of washing is to remove dirt without destroying the natural balance of the scalp and hair. The use of natural shampoos can be a solution, although sometimes it is not as simple as that. Indeed, some natural products contain sulfated washing agents, of natural origin, whose production generates potentially carcinogenic pollutants. Some can be irritating like sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) or ammonium lauryl sulfate (ALS) or dry out the hair like sodium laureth sulfate (SLES).
A good natural shampoo
For the formulation of our shampoos, we combine plant extracts with cleansing and purifying properties and very mild cleansing agents that are also tolerated by sensitive skin. Our foaming products offer a fine and light foam, easy to rinse.
Our shampoos are:

- Ecological: containing natural ingredients that pollute as little as possible during the manufacturing process and disposal in waste water.
Our favorite ingredients
- Lemon hydrolate: obtained by steam distillation, it is purifying and balancing. It offers that typical aromatic scent that gives energy and liveliness.
- Peppermint hydrolate: the distillation of mint produces a very aromatic hydrolate, which helps fight against dandruff and regulates sebum secretion.
- Decyl-glucoside and coco-glucoside: gentle washing agents derived from coconut oil and non-GMO corn. They produce a small amount of fine foam that has a smoothing and softening effect that facilitates the passage of the comb or brush.
- Natural Betaine: derived from beet, it is a multi-functional agent. When added to shampoo, it conditions the hair, improving its hold and resistance.
- Cellulose: a gelling agent of plant origin, it forms a non-greasy protective film on the hair, particularly well tolerated.
- Essential oils: in addition to dispensing their unforgettable fragrance, they are also very effective active concentrates.
